Progress?

I don't know if I'm making progress as it's fiddly work knitting socks. I broke 4 Britany Birch DPNs and have had to use circulars, but they are not as pointy as the DPNs. I guess I'm just ham-fisted at this stage. I read that it does get easier, so there may be hope for me yet! More later, but this sock won't be finished in January 2007 anyway :D

Laceweight for VLT...........

I got what I wanted from Dee this evening, I could have bought some more but I didn't want to lose my 1st choice so I checked out and went back, my 2nd and 3rd choices were gone, they must have been someone's 1st choice too. :)

I need some laceweight for my VLT and I prefer it to be plain or not too variegated for lace, personally speaking. So that's some Cashmere and some SeaSilk to start with. :)

First Sock......ever..........

Well I took the first plunge! I cast on last night and started the ankle of my first sock. I have admired the Rock and Weave sock pattern for some time. The yarn is STR Rocktober in mediumweight.

More Stash Enhancement

I ordered these last week (Knitz & Glitz) and the cotton yarn from SKD on Saturday morning, the yarn is to knit him a scarf, the Cashmerino one I gave him for Christmas he was allergic to. :(

Disappointment.............

I wanted 2 items on the Posh Yarns Sale page and I missed out on both by trying to get both. I was so diappointed that I bought nothing at all, instead of the 2 sock skeins and the 2 lace skeins I really wanted.

I suppose I will get over it but I feel it keenly. I'll pop into Piece of Beauty instead and buy some consolation there instead when I feel up to it.

Another Posh scarf

I finished this last night. I used the Sophie Provoke to knit it.
I used 2 skeins of 8 ply and the small amount of yarn in front of the scarf is all that wasn't used. I know there are free patterns for curly scarves, but this pattern is particular to 2 skeins of Sophie 8ply.

Pattern:
Cast on 75 stitches using 6mm circular needles and a cable cast on.
Knit one row
Next row Knit into the front and Back of every stitch (KFB)
Knit one row
KFB every stitch
Knit one row
Next row Knit into each stitch but do not pull off left hand needle, Yarn Over, knit into stitch again and lift off left hand needle (K/YO/K)
Knit one row
Change to 10mm needles and On next row K/YO/K into every stitch
Knit one row casting off as you knit.

More Beauties!

This arrived in the post this morning, drool worthy yarn. :) Now to resist the Purple Peace, Winter Spice and Red Bark.....................

I need a new camera!

I took this photo to show the scarf I had knit recently being worn after seeing how much better it looked on someone than in a photograph of it lying in a heap. I was reduced to using the bathroom mirror without the flash to take the picture. The poor quality of the picture only highlighted to me how basic my camera is now. It was a great bargain and good basic camera when I got it 4 years ago, in the Kodak debacle.

But this picture only highlights that it is time to move on. Now to start saving.

Knitted and designed while nursing a sick child.

I had plenty of time over the weekend while nursing a sick little one, he just wanted mummy next to him. So I designed and knitted this 'Posh Curly' to use all of the lovely Eva I bought at a previous OOW on Posh Yarns :) It took a couple of goes frogging it and restarting so that I finished it but was still able to use the whole 2 skeins.

I'm going to try this pattern with the Sophie I bought on Sunday. If it works out okay I'll post the pattern on here.

Arrived this morning :)

This is as lovely in real life as in photographs, and so so so soft, like DB Baby cashmerino, only thinner or Makala 'Lambgora'. :)

This is 'October Day' above and 'Robe and Bowl' below.

Just as well, as the daughter of an English teacher!

Your Vocabulary Score: A-

Congratulations on your multifarious vocabulary!
You must be quite an erudite person.

Smaller than expected for such detail!

These arrived this morning, they are so detailed yet so tiny. They are just lovely. Nearly too good to use. And they are so small my digital camera cannot do them justice at all. :)

A set of Boye's 2.75mm DPNS also arrived.

OOW stash

Posh Sophia in 'Provoke'

This is what I bought, it's all mine, for me and no-one else, so there. :)

A Piece of Beautiful colours!

I'm such a colour harlot..I'm not bold or brave enough to dye. Just as well with a 2 year old to help!

I found this little shop by accident. The colours are amazing. I want I want I want! The owner isn't just a sock knitter and dyer, she is an amazing photographer, and her blog is worth looking at, just for the pictures alone. :)

Bank that don't Rock!

I'm lucky I guess that I had all the problems logging on to Blue Moon Fiber Arts site. I only got to pay for the sock club on the 9th of January. Earlier payees had a harder time, as did The Blue Moon Team, read here.

Not much knitting here today, my 'baby' is sick. So just a quick post while he sleeps. :)

De-lurking week!

I discovered here that it's annual de-lurking week. So please post a comment or even a ~wave~ would be great :)

I'm a bit further along with the Clapotis, maybe 2 thirds along, I've almost 300 grams of silk used up so far. Maybe pics tomorrow or over the weekend if I get alot more done.

Wow it slipped past me in a blur!

Where did those holidays go to? I never got started on my socks yet, for many reasons. Firstly my 2nd circular needles haven't arrived. I got one in each size I wanted in 60 cm but have to wait for the same sizes in 40 cm. Secondly, I never seemed to have enough free time this holiday. Work, family, kids, house all got in the way. Ah well I'll wait on the needles and use that as my excuse. I've still to use my STR in Rockoctober which is wound into a big ball waiting for me to take the plunge.

I still can't access Blumoonfibersarts site here at home but was able to access it at work so at least I'll be able to sort the sock club sub out tomorrow.:)

This is what I've been working on since my aunt asked for a Clapotis for her birthday after seeing the one I knitted for my MiL. It's the Hipknits Aran Silk in Surf.

Busy Day!

Finished my sister's scarf in Dee's OOW yarn that came before Christmas. She chose the pattern.

Can't you just tell I had a day off and got to spend it at home with no visitors!

I was Tagged

Okay Kay Anne tagged me before Christmas and I've got to write 6 weird things about myself.

1. I like to eat Toast with Peanut Butter and Picalilli on it.

2. I hate reality TV with a passion, nost people don't understand this but I want to escape the real world not live someone else's.

3. I'm a computer hardware nerd and my friends/family think that is so weird.

4. A fortune teller once told me who I would marry and it was accurate but I didn't realise until later how accurate.

5. I was once courageous enough to travel by train from London to Fuengirola on my own, the thought of doing it now gives me palpatations though.

6. I love to sit for hours in a topped up aromatherapy bath reading until I'm so wrinkled I could get a pension afterwards.

My belated Christmas present is not to tag anyone. :)

Knitz & Glitz and Lambgora

Cute sheep pencils from Knitz & Glitz, to match my sheep needles and sheep stitch markers.

A bag charm from Knitz & Glitz.

This scarf was knitted in Lambgora for a niece and decorated with Injabulo 'Westie' Buttons

Frustrated!

Despite Blue Moon's best effeorts I am still unable to access their new website. I have added Firefox, Opera, and Netscape in an effort to access the site. Turned off Firewalls, temporarily albeit and no joy. Netscape says the site doesn't exist??

Pray please for me or my Christmas present is a no no :(

Happy New Year!

I ended up knitting some items and not getting time to take pics before giving them to the intended recipients. One was a DB Cashmerino Chunky scarf for my DB and the other a spiral scarf using Dee's Cashmere, I bought before Christmas, for his wife. :)

I'm now 1/4 the way through a silk Clapotis for my Godmother which she specifically asked for. I got the silk in Kerrie's Hipknits Sale before Christmas too. I never got started on a sock, yet! BUT my email from Blue Moon came in this morning so no excuse when it arrives, though I've not been able to access their site yet either, must be a lot of traffic on it :)

I wish all those I feel lucky enough to share my blog with a Happy and Prosperous New Year, many more of them, and a better year than last year for you all.
