Remember the outrageous price hike? Well I was patiently waiting for the Rockin Sock Club yarn that BMFA sent via USPS on 14th June. It sat in San Francisco for 5 days, yes Five days!!!!!!!! A comment made was that the price hike was for the extra rental of space for storing parcels for all those days, but USPS isn't a storage company, it is a postal service, right???
The long and short of this post is that I go on holiday/vacation tomorrow and will have to wait another week plus to receive my STR club yarn. I was hoping to post a pic for YPF but that ain't going to happen now. And what does USPS say the parcel should arrive in.....up to 10 days well it is 9 days today.
RooBeeDoo posted that she got a parcel from US very cheaply, but that wasn't trackable post and the yarn companies like BMFA need tracking to keep the customers satisfied.
If USPS isn't more careful they will put an end to a lot of US businesses at this rate.

Maybe it stands for 'US Pathetic Service'. Poor serviec that is. I hope it's kept for you whilst your away & doesn't get returned to sender :(
I never thought of that!!!! Yikes.....
Your cable raglan will be the perfect travel knit. The STR socks are kind of fiddly for traveling anyway (just trying to make you feel better)Damn post office!!
Have a nice vacation!
That is utter utter pants!
Tina over at BMFA is so mad at this too. It is USPS not BMFA I'm mad at. Tina and Co are fantastic. :)
I always alternate knitting socks and garments for comfort. Different size needles and yarn weights prevent too much RSI, for me :)
This was the first STR pattern that was cuff down too. I'm so afraid of Toe up socks :blushes: :)
I've looked so longingly at that pattern but it simply wouldn't suit me :-( yours is looking beautiful!
The postal situation is so frustrating isn't it :-(
I would be disgusted too. How appaling service USPS provide. I've not ordered from the US for a while now and I'm put off now by all the talk about increase in rates. when I have ordered it's normally been delivered very quickly. Oh, just remembered I did get a US parcel a cuple of weeks ago and it took longer than previous parcels to arrive.
Oh no! How frustrating! No, my parcel wasn't trackable ... but because of where I live, I don't like "signed for" packages. They always come when I am at work and then end up on a remote industrial estate and can only be collected Mon-Fri 9 to 5... when I am at work at the other end of the universe! Isn't it a shame you can't just download yarn?!?
USPS p*ss me off. The postal rates to Canada have become exorbitant, and the service has slowed down considerably, too. I realise that CanadaPost is slow, as well, (but then again, our post is Monday-Friday and not Monday-Saturday so that does make it take a bit longer to begin with) and maybe I shouldn't be complaining, but oi.
