As promised, the second skein of the Wollmeise sock club. The pattern that they both are intended to create can be seen here. A daunting pattern but fabulous :)

The tones in this skein are amazing.

It is hard to catch all the variations in a few photographs.

Another fabulous Wollmeise masterpiece!! I haven't seen Claudia dye anything I don't love.

This week's Pron is one of two skeins from the Wollmeise Sock Club. 100% Merino fingering weight yarn.

Colourway: Okzident

I love the greens/blues/teals in this skein.

This is for a sock design that has 2 colours in it, this and another colour.

I will post the other skein next week, they are both fabulous examples of Claudia's skill at dyeing yarn! I'm not sure that my skills are up to 2 colour work though, I seem to make a hash of it.........

arnThese 2 beauties arrived last week. I luckily appear to be one of a few first parcels sent out and what a wonderful parcel it was too. It contained a lovely pattern by BockstarkKnits. It also contained a chocolate covered marzipan treat, long gone! and gorgeous dpns HolzSteins. ETA: The yarn is 100% merino.

Problems!!!

My computer has given me a difficult weekend! It will not switch on for more than a few minutes at a time! So it has to go back for repairs, and I may lose everything on it, nothing life saving is kept on it but the patterns, pictures and bookmarks for Firefox will be a pain to sort out. I will just have to see it as a real spring clean! So I spent the weekend rebuilding my old PC so that I had internet access. You never realise how much you miss something until you have to do without!! I can go up to 3 weeks on holiday without pc access but not a day at home without shaking! That is bad........

Now onto knitting. :)

Some WiP pictures, bearing in mind I have not got my usual software etc!

First up: I am almost finished the Paul Monkeys. Doesn't this picture look apt for this week, Valentines Day? Consider this a little heart I send out to you during this week of 'love' :)

Then I am on the toes of my Evolution Ribbed socks in Flamingo Sunrise. I'm posting 2 pictures to show the fabulous pooling at each side. I love it anyway :)


See the little ball of yarn leftover, I could have easily knit longer cuffs, and these were an inch longer than the first pair I knit! So still a reasonable yardage with this pattern, thankfully. :)

I'm off to Dublin on Thursday so there may be no more new posts until next week, Half-term is a wonderful invention!! I really need a break. And a trip to This is Knit I think, since I have been relatively good, for me ;) :)

Paul socks.................one down......................

One of the Wollmeise Sockenwolle Paul Monkeys now done. This yarn is really divine to work with, very soft despite not yet being washed!



I used a non twisted rib on the cuff for a change with a no purl modification. Everything else is as CookieA's pattern states. I used 2.5mm needles for the sock but 2.25mm needles for the heel flap. :)

I studied History of Art at school many moons ago! One project I was assigned in that time was to do a study of the Artists from a particular 'period' that interested me. I chose Post-Impressionist painters as their works were and still are my favourite. I have prints of Seurat, Cross and Gauguin on my Living room wall which I searched for for many years before finding them in the shop at the Louvre Museum in Paris. Claudia from Wollmeise also has an interest in this period and has named 4 new yarns after some of the artists including Paul which todays yarn is named after. Way to go Claudia I could not resist this particular colourway ever!! Now I have the perfect colour for my Firestarters and since I have done a toe up sock now I can contemplate beginning these, after I have finished 3 projects, I did promise. :)





This skein is sockenwolle and so soft!!!

Converse Blogging

One might imagine that having almost 2 weeks leave would enable more blogging not less. Conversely I have had less time not more for blogging. I have knit though. I am working on a new bag using all or most of my Wollmeise test skeins. I really love this yarn, it is very soft and very like Lion and Lamb to touch. The vibrant colours are just a delight to knit with, each skein unfolds to tell a different colour story. Simply beautiful. I want another wrap now having seen more of the colours in real life. :)

I have a few ideas about the bag project but nothing concrete yet. I have also been trying to get through WiPs to leave a clear way to doing some bigger projects this year. :)

I also joined SAM5 which Zonda is hosting this time round. It should give me encouragement to knit at least one pair a month. :)

I would like to take the opportunity to wish all the lovely people who visit here (and the even braver people who post comments :)) a Happy, (Healthy) and Prosperous New Year for 2008. "Athbhliain faoi Mhaise Daoibh" if you prefer it in Gaelic. BTW Happy Knitting too.

It's a Wrap!!

I finished the Wollmeise Mobius-Wrap at long last. :) It is georgeous!! Since I was the only one who was there in daylight the pictures are modelled obligingly by a pillow :)

Details: Wollmeise lambswool. 3 skeins (Red Hot Chili/Dornroschen/Brombere) on 5mm circs with 100cm cable. Special technique used: Mobius cast on. Pattern free here .

Wollmeise Möbius-Wrap row 32 of 40

I have been feeling the love and colour of this wrap at the moment and have been knitting away at it. Each row is 400+ stitches in the round so it does take time with work and kids factored in, but I am about 80% done at this point. Do you 'feel' the colours as I do?

I finished the first of my Thinking Pink Monkeys. I love how this yarn knits up and it will be even softer washed etc. :)
