The first pair of socks for Summer of Socks are knitted in Sunshine Yarns Sportweight: Field of Flowers. I used 2.75mm needles and knitted a plain sock and tried a Eye of Partridge Heel for the first time ever. I think it really suited this particular yarn :)
Eye of Partridge Heel detail, perfect with this particular yarn :)
My sister-in-law bagged these when she saw me knitting them early on. It was her Birthday so why not :)

Wollmeise Charity Auction...............
Members of the Crafty threads'n'yarn Forum took part in the race for life event. I offered a skein as a prize for the event to encourage the participants in their hard work :) AuntieNoo has offered her prize up for auction to raise further money for the Raceforlife Charity. The auction takes place here. You have to be a member of the forum to take part and the prize skein will only be sent when the final amount has been paid to one of the sponsor pages. I will forward the skein on to the winner afterwards. Closing date is 7pm Friday 4th July! GMT. All proceeds are for charity :)
The yarn incase you are not sure is a skein of Wollmeise 100% Sockenwolle in Regenbogen, and it is worthwhile offering it up for a great cause. Please bid :)

Wet June Saturdays.......
A new yarn arrived this morning which is a fortuitous arrival as Summer of Socks 2008 starts today. I have to put aside all the half pairs until Sept! and knit as many socks this summer as I can. I am not going to only do that mind you and I didn't sign up for the competitons since I just couldn't compete with knitters who don't have full-time work/family/caring commitments or a combination of these and still enjoy the summer. So I'm signed up but for fun only. In the spirit of the special event starting however I will knit one pair with this lovely yarn first. Sunshine Yarns Sport: Superwash merino in Field of Flowers.
I have been making progress on these other socks. I am on the straight portion of the foot now :) I feel compelled to finish these, do you blame me.......

Rivendell......................
My copy of The Eclectic Sole arrived last week! It is a wonderful book full of stunning patterns.
The first pattern on the needles is Rivendell and I am using the Twinkle Toes in Glacial Moraine I blogged about in May. Here is the first progress picture of my sock.
what do you think? Does it look anything like this?

YPF.................................Loch Ness
Todays yarn is a skein of STR-Mediumweight that I acquired in a destash on Ravelry.
The colourway is Loch Ness and is a lovely greeny blue combination.
I love these rich and beautiful combinations, but direct shipping costs from BMFA is still more that a skein of yarn, so thank the stars for destashing........... :)

Not even September....................
Another project I am working on is secret. I am test knitting a sock pattern for a fellow Raveller. The yarn I am using is Claudia Handpainted in Honey and this little picture below is of the stocking stitch sole.
And because it is secret for now that's all I can or will post. It is a lovely pattern and I have learnt several new stitches and techniques on the way. :)
In case anyone hasn't noticed I have a confession to make. I love how quickly this yarn knits into silky soft socks. I keep increasing the length of the cuff with each new colour of sock. This one is 5 inches long and there was 11 grams left over. The colourway is called September.
Now another September and October make 2 pairs of socks in June.

YPF.....................Posh Yarn Lucia: Sunrise
Lately the only way to acquire Posh Yarns is by waiting for others to destash theirs. I was able to add this to my collection and am delighted with the colours for the summer months, especially as I have signed up for the Summer of Socks. But not for the most socks knitted just as an added push to go quicker............I didn't do very well last year but I hope to beat my paltry 2 pairs this year!!
A lot of photographs but a lot of colour variations too :)

A meme post today.........Justine tagged me earlier this week for this Getting to know more about you meme. Here goes....
1) What was I doing ten years ago?
1998, I had had my first little'un and was just back to work part-time as a district nurse. My mother was still living and life was very settled. But nothing exciting was going on, it was later that year that I embarked on a career move that set me on my present course. So 1998 was a very uneventful time but very happy one :)
2) What are five things on my to-do list for today:
3) Snacks I enjoy:
I am a popcorn freak, and I adore the raspberry liquorice sticks. I also love toast with peanut butter and picallili spread on it.
4) Things I would do if I were a billionaire:
Pay off the mortgage. I cannot think beyond that point. I would always work, I need to have job satisfaction to keep motivated. I would however love to tell my bank and then go elsewhere since I think they are the most awful bank in the world from my personal experience......I prefer to live as I am and not live in expectation of something so unwholly likely to happen. I don't even buy lottery tickets. I do believe that there is no easy way to make money but through hard work, and no point to it other than to pay bills.
5) Places I have lived:
Ghana, West Africia; London, UK; Newcastle upon Tyne, UK; Belfast, UK; Home
6) Jobs I have had:
Shop Assistant, Helper on a summer scheme for the physically and mentally handicapped children, Nurse in various roles and capacities
7) Peeps I want to know more about:
I picked 6 at random from my blogroll, I would love to know more about everyone on that list but this is just a few of many.

2) What are five things on my to-do list for today:
- Laundry, working weekdays mean the weekend is always about laundry
- knit some more of the many many WiPs I have on the go
- If the weather holds, have a BBQ today at my SiLs
- score some Posh Yarn, laughs maniacly
- Enjoy special time with my children and big sister too
