Why ??

Why when Colinette is so stingy with it's yardage, [291yds/267m
as opposed to 380yards in Socks That Rock (similar yarn) for the same price] does my skein come in 4 pieces. It's for socks and I'm presuming that knots in socks aren't great for comfort. You can see from the size of the 'balls' of Jitterbug that it's not that it's conveniently in 2 bits. No it's in 4 bits. I'd send this back if it wasn't bought for my 9 year old and the full amount will probably not be needed anyway. But I am peeved! It's not as if I'd bought 'seconds' instead of just feeling like I did.

That is just crazy, send them the photo and ask why on earth they think that many knots in one skein is acceptable?! I'm always peeved when I find a knot in any skein, it's one more end to weave in and when I'm making something like a chemo cap, I don't appreciate having that extra "bump" in the middle of the hat. For socks it must be a nightmare too.

I sent them an email and picture asking why. :)

Wow, that's absolutely insane. I'd be contacting them and making a little bit of a fuss over it.

How infuriating, Gilraen! I ould hope not to have that happen even with a cheaper yarn ... but Colinnette is NOT cheap:( Hope you get back a response that you are happy with ...

"Thank you for your email, now and again you will come across knots in
the yarn, it's one of those things that unfortunately cannot be helped
but we never allow more than 3 per hank."

That was the reply! If I had said 4 knots what would they have written?

3 per hank in a 280-yard hank is, IMHO, a compeltely unacceptable standard. I'd write back and see if someone else replies.

thats a carzy answer, its just a way to avoid the actual problem, like the yardage its a pity as they do lovely colours but it puts me of no end

Gilraen, that's awful! I agree with everyone else that 3 knots per skein is not acceptable. I understand that sometimes they can't avoid a break in the yarn, and I'm willing to put up with 1 knot now and then, but that many is outrageous, especially when you pay a premium for their yarns!
